FIELD & FOUNDRY

Footwear is in our blood. Three generations of it. What started with an immigrant's shoe store in small-town New Zealand in 1948 became a family trade -passed from grandfather to father to son. Each one learned the same thing: if you build it right, people come back.

Field & Foundry is where all of that lands. Boots that feel like they already know you - the weight of real leather, the way they break in to the shape of your stride. Antique brass hardware that darkens with age. Full-grain leather that creases, not cracks. Nothing hidden, nothing cut short.

Most boots today are cemented - the upper glued to the sole in a process designed for speed, not longevity. When the sole wears through, the boot is finished. Goodyear welting is different. A strip of leather - the welt - is stitched to both the upper and the sole, creating a sealed, structural bond that can be taken apart and rebuilt. It's a 150-year-old method that takes over 200 hand operations per pair. It's slower. It's harder. And it's the reason a boot can outlast the person who bought it.

Each pair carries a service number stamped into the leather and registered to its owner. When the soles wear down, they come back - not for a replacement, but a resole. $100 towards your first.
Seventy-eight years in footwear. We're still learning, still building, still here.

WHAT IS GOODYEAR WELT CONSTRUCTION?

The gold standard of boot construction - and the reason these boots last for decades

  • Increased Durability
A strip of leather (the welt) binds upper to sole, creating an incredibly strong
    structural bond.

  • Water Resistance
The sealed welt stitching minimises moisture ingress, protecting the foot from wet
    conditions.

  • Enhanced Comfort
Cork filling between layers moulds to the foot over time, creating a custom,
    cushioned fit.

  • Ability to Be Resoled
The welt allows the sole to be removed and replaced without damaging the
    upper.

  • Longer Product Lifespan
With proper care and resoling, a Goodyear welted boot can last decades
    rather than seasons.

The Unique Service Number

Every pair has its own identity - a unique service number embossed into the leather on the tongue of the right boot, linking the boot to its owner for life through registration and unlocking access to a resole discount.

Registration Process:

  1. Locate serial number on the right tongue.
  2. Complete registration card included in shoe box (keep serial number and date of repurchse).
  3. Registration results in voucher for $100 off your first resole (within 4 years).
