Earlier this year, The Young Hearts Project and the Graeme Dingle Foundation teamed up to help supply sneakers for deserving Auckland based teachers. We're proud to support the Graeme Dingle Foundation and their Kiwi Can programme to provide opportunities for young people and those who guide them. We caught up with four Kiwi Can teachers to discuss what the programme means to them, the challenges that young people face in NZ, and how Kiwi Can lessons are truly changing the heart of our community.
As our team settle into working from home, we wanted to create a spotlight series on a few of the inspiring individuals in the Merchant 1948 family to see what they're currently making/reading/watching/listening to during this time.
As we navigate through these uncertain times, we want to pass along our positive thoughts to our employees, our customers, your families and the world. We also wanted to ensure that you are kept up to date with our actions surrounding COVID-19 and let you know that we are doing everything we can to keep our team and community safe.
The Young Hearts Project partner with the MATES programme, run through Great Potentials. The MATES programme pushes young kiwis to reach their full potential through mentoring programmes and today, we spotlight on MATES mentor and coordinator Connor, to hear his story and how the Young Hearts Project has changed his life.
We asked the Merchant 1948 team what they're loving from our Autumn new arrivals.
Our charity, the Young Hearts Project, was created with the purpose of changing the lives of kiwis. Our donation programme, that sees $5 from every pair of full-price Deuce sneakers sold go towards the Young Hearts Project is put towards some awesome initiatives, including the MATES programme, run through Great Potentials.
Through Deuce’s involvement with the Young Hearts Project, our charity created with the hope of changing lives, we’ve seen many awesome kiwi’s do great things. We achieve this through our donation programme, that sees $5 from every pair of full price Deuce sneakers sold go towards the Young Hearts Project that funds these awesome initiatives. One of our partners, the MATES programme through Great Potentials, helps kiwi youth to reach their full potential through mentoring programmes. We caught up with MATES mentor, coordinator and regional manager Andrew, to hear his story and how the Young Hearts Project has changed his life.
Today, we spotlight on Phoenix Moore and learn about her journey with Youthline. Phoenix Moore has been a member of Youthline’s mentoring programme for over a year. The mentoring programme is designed to help youth determine their goals and implement a plan to achieve them so that they get to where they want to be.
We asked some of the Merchant 1948 team what they're loving from our summer collection.
Our Deuce Sneakers brand is one that believes in supporting and giving back to our local community, so from every pair of full-price Deuce sneakers sold, $5 goes towards The Young Hearts Project. Through the work of the Young Hearts Project, we support organisations and charities that do great things for kiwis, helping, shaping and positively changing the lives of others. One of those charities is the MATES organisation, which is a programme that mentors youth within New Zealand.
